When is the right time to take a stroll
to the milestones you once achieved
When is the right time to stop by each tree
that generously lent you the shade once upon a time
when is the right time to revisit the
acquaintances you bid goodbye to once
and when exactly is the right time
to close your eyes and relive the flashback of life
……..
An auditorium filled with seniors
aged in grey yet fine as red wine
With hearts as welcoming as the break of the dawn
and with a memory, you certainly could lose your bets on
An aura of warmth, compassion, and the spirit of reunion
With unrecognizable faces but distinguishable souls
Greeting each other in anguish
of “why had we not met before this day?”
Recollecting seemed so effortless for this company
they seemed to pick up from exactly where they left off
The campus they loved and the subjects they despised
The places they went, the mischiefs they did
The friendships that blossomed under the arch, the romances that made it to the day
The degree that was gained and the memories that got etched into the hearts forever…
At this point, I requestioned the ability of cognizance
On how possibly we miss out on the little details
details that characterize people and their reactions at instances
details that make u giggle whenever you think of them.
That’s what makes it all so special to split ways and to come back together to only realize why sometimes it ok to part ways cause coming back together just doubles up the joy
Guess that’s about memories and people you value them more when they are long gone usually when its too late to live them again and way too early to publish memories and biographies on them
The day seemed longer than usual with the shimmering joy of reunion It handed over the momentum to the evening and translated to a gloomy farewell once again It was time for the seniors to retreat to their daily lives In different cities, in different emotions, and in different characters.
……
The physical world has changed so much ever since this homecoming party
With more farewells, mostly unplanned ones
but probably it brought more reasons to look forward to the test of life
for them, for others, and for the time that ticks in the guise of being valued…
